A Parade to Honor Homecoming
Maclay's Annual Homecoming Parade

Leaders Guiding the Parade: The Maclay Student Ambassadors start off the parade, leading the other student organizations around the loop. Their job is to introduce new families to the school and guide shadow students when they visit.

Performing Through the Parade: The Valkyries, Maclay's dance team, walk confidently through the parade. “My favorite part of dancing is being able to express myself through my movement as it allows me to get my emotions out when I need to,” Captain Alexandra Holland said. “I also love the community it has brought me and the countless memories.”

Leaders of the Classes: The Maclay Upper School Student Council leads through the parade. They show leadership in the upper school and represent their individual classes in the decision-making process.

Junior Classical Takes the Stage: Junior Classical League (JCL) is a competitive league that specializes in the Latin and Greek languages. “My favorite part of JCL is when the kids start nerding out about stuff, and they find their favorite thing,” JCL sponsor Kristen Youngblood said.

Junior Dancers Put on a Show: The younger dancers perform at the front of the parade. The group consists of upper elementary and middle school students who are excited to show off their moves.

Math Outside of the Classroom: Mu Alpha Theta (MAT) walks through the parade, showing off math puns and skills. “I like doing math, and the club allows me to expand on that,” MAT member Kate Woodward said.

Cheering With School Pride: The Maclay varsity cheer team performs a routine in front of Webster. Their performance encourages parade attendees to return for the football game after school, where they will be cheering on the players.

Memories Drive By: Maclay alumni go on a hay ride through their old school. Their children sit with them, showing a legacy of Maclay students throughout the generations.

A Court of Winners: The Homecoming (HOCO) court electees drive by, sitting on top of cars. Layla Hafez and Shaw Sembler are later announced as queen and king at the HOCO football game after school.

Caboosing the Parade: At the end of the parade, security guard China Patterson follows in a school golf cart. She’s known among students and teachers for being a friendly protection.
