Maclay Girls Basketball Takes Down Wakulla

The Maclay girls basketball team was 2-1 coming off a 14-point win and hoping to keep their start

strong. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the team did just this, beating the Wakulla War Eagles 42-21 at home. The Marauders were led by senior Lauren Guyer who finished the game with 16 points. This win takes the team to 3-1 on the year, and they look to extend their two game winning streak.

“The biggest thing that helped us win was our defense,” Guyer said. “We played a 1-3-1 into a 2-3, which disrupted Wakulla’s offense and created opportunities for us to quickly turn our defense into offense.”

The defensive strategies along with good ball movement was a big part of what led to the win for the Marauders. This is something the team hopes to bring with them for the rest of their season.

“Our team is going to continue to train hard,” junior Molly Mcdonald said. “This will help us grow closer and win more games.”

The Marauders have a chance to extend their winning streak on Dec. 5 when they play at St. John Paul Catholic II at 6 p.m.
