Operation Epic Fury

The United States and Israel Bombed Iran

On Feb. 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran. Some cities that the U.S.-Israeli bombs landed in include Tehran, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Yazd and Minab. In Tehran, the presidential complex was struck, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamene and 49 other Iranian leaders. These deaths have momentarily relieved Iranians from the head of their authoritarian government.

United States President Donald Trump said the decision to bomb Iran was necessary because the country was building missiles with intent to take out various countries, including the United States. However, some experts and previous federal government assessments conflict with Trump’s reasoning, saying that Trump did not have nor seek congressional approval when attacking Iran.

In Minab, U.S.-Israeli missiles destroyed a girl’s primary school. This resulted in 150 deaths and 100 injuries. UNESCO has responded to these events by calling it “a grave violation of humanitarian law,” and stated that “attacks against educational institutions endanger students and teachers and undermine the right to education.”

Iran has responded by firing multiple missiles on nearby U.S. military bases and Israel. Most missiles were intercepted, but those not taken down have killed 10 people.
