Gallery: Students Explored Career Paths of their Choice with Expert Speakers

Introduction: A student introduces Florida A&M University (FAMU) -Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering Professor Subramanian Ramakrishnan, who talks about chemical and biomedical engineering. He has conducted post-doctoral work at Princeton University and at the Nanoscience Center at University of Illinois. He was a visiting associate professor at Harvard University on a NSF funded sabbatical through 2016-2017. He tells students about his experiences.

Inspiring Entrepreneurs: Founder of Ground Ops Smokery and Bakehouse, entrepreneur Chris Smith supervises retail café operations and wholesale coffee distribution throughout the region. He emphasizes the impact of strong relationships and financial skills in business.

Medieval Art History: Art history specialist Dr. Catherine Fernandez works at the Index of Medieval Art at Princeton University. At Florida State University, she earned a dual degree in Art History and English Literature and later a PhD in art history at Emory University. She speaks to students over a virtual call about her area of expertise.

Finance Business: Jay Malone is the chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Maclay School. He was named one of Tampa Magazine’s Top 10 Under 40 Business Leaders in 2022 and operates an advisory firm outside of Maclay. He informs the students on the huge impact and importance of building business relationships.

Property Managing: Ashley Hall is a realtor and designer with FSU degrees in finance and marketing. She started her career in Atlanta at Home Depot, where she worked in CRM marketing, operations and product management. She also spent time buying homes and conducting hands-on renovations.
