The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards Were Held January 11

Launched in 1944, the Golden Globe Awards honor excellence in both film and television, and are handed out annually in Los Angeles. The Globe features numerous categories for films to be nominated for, including best actor/actress, best comedy, best screenplay and many others.
In the film categories, many features did well and were nominated more than once. “Frankenstein” was nominated for five, though won none. “Hamnet” received six nominations and won two awards: Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Actress for Jessie Buckley's role as Agnes. “One Blue Moon,” starring Ethan Hawke, acquired three nominations, but won none. And finally, “One Battle After Another,” with the highest number of nominations, won four awards out of nine nominations.
For television shows, there were several series which had notably more nominees than others. The popular medical drama, “The Pitt,” won both its nominations: Best Television Series Overall and Best Actor for Noah Wyle. The Apple TV series “Pluribus” won one of its two nominations. "Adolescence,” a thriller series, had five nominations and won four. “Nobody Wants This,” a Netflix comedy series, acquired a total of three nominations, but won none.
