Maclay Math Team Places Second Overall at Maclay Regional

On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Maclay Mu Alpha Theta math team competed at the Maclay Regional Competition. Maclay had teams representing the Algebra II, Precalculus, Calculus and Statistic divisions. Participating schools included Chiles, Rocky Bayou, Rickards, Leon, Lincoln and Navarre.
At the competition, each team consisted of four mathletes who participated in a team round and in an individual round, where they were tested in their respective divisions. Overall, Maclay placed second in both the Precalculus and Statistics categories and fifth in both the Calculus and Algebra II divisions. Notable achievements include sophomores Evan Ho, Luke Davidson and Colgan Dudley placing fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively in the Precalculus individual test. Senior Alex Wang also placed eighth in the individual Statistics test as well.
“I think it was really fun competing with the people I love,” junior Keya Patel said. “My favorite part was the team competition.”
The math team looks forward to the upcoming February Regional held at Lincoln on the seventh. Go mathletes!
