Gallery: An Update on Maclay Construction

ree

Ventilation Victory: Benson's HVAC workers complete construction on a large air-conditioning unit, giving Rahangdale Center students cool air as they master math.

ree

Up and Away: Electric scissor lifts are used to reach places that traditional ladders cannot. This worker prepares to lather black paint on a vertical steel support beam high above the ground.

ree

Ready for Action: This worker’s tool bag shows that DeWalt is the company of choice for their tools.

ree

Math in Motion: Another group of construction workers toil away at Maclay’s Rahangdale Center for Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, located between the Center for Academic Excellence and Beck Family Research Center. The center is expected to open in the spring semester, with four new math classrooms and a first-of-its-kind artificial intelligence laboratory.

Locked In: Maclay Band Director Jennifer Corzine enjoys the newly installed cabinets in her band room because her students now have a clean space to store their instruments, which are locked in sleek black cases for protection.

ree

Line it Up: Tape measure and pen in hand, a worker sections vented vinyl soffit so he can cut it for installation under the Maclay Band Room’s roof eaves, providing ventilation and protection. The Band Room - just one of the smaller construction projects happening around Maclay’s campus - is receiving a major upgrade, with new carpet, paint, furniture, exterior steps and more already installed.

Ladders and Dreams: This hallway of the Rahangdale Center will eventually give visitors a path through the middle of the building.

ree

Drill Artist: Standing on a metaltech scaffold, a worker uses an impact driver to drive screws into the plywood sheathing of the pavilion's performance stage.

ree

Celebration: Sophomores Ben Gregory and Julian Bastien embrace each other in a celebratory hug after a spikeball victory. Maclay students enjoy playing outdoor games during lunch on the finished turf area of the pavilion.

ree

Barriers Gone: Finishing touches are done to the backstage area of Maclay’s new Performing Arts Pavilion, a 9,000 square foot area with a covered performance stage and turf seating for theatre, dance and musical performances and outdoor classes.
