The Maclay Dance Department Presents Their Annual Spring Showcase

Maclay’s dance department presented a spring showcase on Friday, April 25. Students from the beginner, intermediate and advanced classes all got the opportunity to perform, meaning a wide range of skill levels were featured. In addition to pieces especially choreographed for the showcase, the advanced class, also known as the Valkyries, performed their team dances which have been featured at pep rallies and sports games in the past.
The show featured a balance of solo and group performances, several of which were choreographed by the dancers. These choreography projects were a major focus of the spring semester’s curriculum and allowed the dancers to broaden their horizons of dance knowledge. They also allowed dancers to showcase their preferred dance styles and brought students’ influence into the show. Each performance was made unique and entertaining due to the wide range of styles featured in the show, including jazz, lyrical, pointe and pom.
