On Saturday, February 28, Maclay held the annual Global Festival. This festival brought numerous different traditions to campus, focusing on the theme “Around the World in One Morning.”

Students and guests explored culture from Colombia, Morocco, Spain, Brazil, China, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Mexico, Peru, India and more. Most countries were represented with individual booths, where world language students and groups from around Tallahassee had small presentations with information about history, traditions, landmarks and daily life in different places. Many booths also featured traditional foods, allowing people to experience them firsthand.

Throughout the morning, there were several performances held on campus such as music, dance, poetry and martial arts demonstrations. Some of these were performed by Maclay students, as well as students from other schools in Tallahassee, including Montford Middle School, Trinity Catholic School, Rickards High School and many others. Organizations like Chinese American Association, Big Bend Filipino-American Association, Bagani Martial arts group and many more also gave performances. Overall, the vibrant event honored the cultures that shape both Maclay and the Global community.
