On Monday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 8, Maclay’s Upper School Brain Bowl team went up against eight selected Maclay teachers. Brain Bowl is a quiz bowl-like tournament, with questions about literature, math, history, science and pop-culture. For homecoming week, the team decided to compete against Maclay faculty, which included Ms. Evans, Mr. G, Ms. Balog, Ms. Stockstill, Mr. Dickson, Ms. Gimbel, Ms. LaBatt and Mr. Rankin.

On Monday, there were two rounds, each with new teams of teachers and students. In round one, Maclay’s students, captained by sophomore Ava Abbott, did well and scored significantly more than the teachers they were facing. However, in round two, Maclay’s faculty, captained by Mr. Dickson, came back for the win.

On Wednesday, the winning teacher and student teams of their respective rounds faced off for one final match. Unfortunately for Maclay’s student team, the staff ended up winning by 100 points. This being said, Maclay was able to see a promising start for their Upper School Brain Bowl Team, and looks forward to watching them grow.
