Did She Deserve It?
Beyonce Faces Backlash for Her 2025 GRAMMYs Awards

Beyonce took home Album of the Year and the Best Country Album for “Cowboy Carter” at the 2025 GRAMMYS, which was held on Feb. 2 in Los Angeles. She also received Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus. However, Beyonce’s winning has sparked controversy among critics who argue that the singer did not deserve the awards.
Many netizens claim that Beyonce was rewarded not for her country music but for her career and the past awards she deserved but repeatedly did not receive. Some even argue that “Cowboy Carter” should not have been put under the country category. Other netizens, however, have challenged these claims, saying the public is excessively critical towards Beyonce.
When Beyonce received the Best Country Album, Kacey Musgraves, who was nominated for the same category, expressed an upset look, which she later clarified. Country music artist Dylan Scott also expressed anger over Beyonce’s winning, saying the awards should be voted on by fans. Amidst the controversy, Beyonce is preparing for the Cowboy Carter Tour, which she announced on her social media on Feb. 1.
