Maclay Boys Soccer Beats Franklin County

On Friday, Jan. 23, the Maclay varsity boys soccer team played the Franklin County Seahawks, coming out with a huge 7-0 win to advance to the district finals. Following last year's success, the Maclay boys varsity soccer team is ready to defend their state championship in the post season.
“What we need to do is get the team together and have a couple of good training sessions,” Boys soccer Coach Andy Warner said. “We have had good chances, but we need to improve our finishing. The younger guys are stepping in and gaining confidence, but as you see tonight playoffs are physical. We just can’t afford anymore injuries this season.”
The team started the game off strong, with Maclay ending the first half up 3-0, following two goals from senior Luke Daunt and one goal from sophomore Ben Gregory. Coming out of the locker room, the Marauders brought the energy from the first half, and scored four more goals by the end of the game. Daunt ended the game with five goals for Maclay, and senior Reid Roberts scored off a corner kick from Mattew Nowels.
The boys are set to play the Mariana Bulldogs on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 7 on Frank Shaw field for the district finals. Make sure to come out and support the Marauders and follow their success in the post season!
