Roblox Faces Lawsuits Over Failure to Protect Children Online

Roblox, one of the world’s most popular gaming platforms, is facing multiple lawsuits over allegations that it failed to protect minors from online predators.

According to Altman LLP, predators posing as children have used Roblox chat features to contact minors before moving conversations to applications with less oversight. There, they allegedly send explicit content and arrange in-person meetings, leading to devastating consequences for victims and their families.

In Sept. 2025, a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Roblox following the suicide of a 13-year-old boy whose mother said he was groomed by a predator he met through the game. His mother alleges that the company ignored repeated warnings about the dangers facing children on the platform.

A separate case in Aug. 2025 involved the abduction of a 10-year-old Californian girl who was lured away by an adult she met on Roblox. The incident sparked a multi-agency search before she was found safe. In the end, her family sued the company for negligence.

Despite marketing itself as a family-friendly platform, arguments that Roblox has prioritized profits and use growth over meaningful child safety measures rise in conversation. Attorneys representing victims’ families say the lawsuits not only aim to hold Roblox accountable, but also push for stricter online protections to prevent future harm.
