University of Florida College Admissions Visits Maclay School

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, a representative from the University of Florida (UF) College Admissions Office visited Maclay Upper School to answer questions and share information about the university. During the visit, the representative distributed two handouts: a paper cutout of the UF Gator logo with brief information about its statistics on the back, and a comprehensive booklet, titled the UF Admissions Guide, that contained additional information about the university’s undergraduate programs and majors.
A mix of juniors and seniors attended the visit. They asked a wide range of questions, including what aspects of an application tend to stand out, what advice the representative had for juniors interested in applying next year and how college credit and GPA are calculated.
Located in Gainesville, UF is ranked fifth among the nation’s best public universities by Forbes. The university also offers an honors program that seniors can apply for, which includes personalized academic advising and access to the newly constructed Honors Village, a housing and residential complex located on campus that is designed for honors students.
“The UF visit was very helpful for me,” junior Karina Ledesma said. “As someone who wants to go to UF in the future, the visit provided lots of information.”
The deadline to apply for early action is Nov. 1, while the regular decision deadline is Jan. 15. Best of luck to this year’s senior class!
