Maclay Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Deerfield-Windsor

The Maclay Marauders took on the Deerfield-Windsor Knights for their final game of the regular season on Friday, Jan. 30. The boys were looking to end their regular season strong and to begin their playoff run with a win. The guys were able to do just that with a nailbiter win in overtime 36-33.
This game proved to be a defensive battle for the Marauders as the score was only 21-16, in favor of the Knights, at the half. The next two quarters proved to be the same exact story as both teams only managed to have 33 points each at the end of regulation. Overtime was no different, as there were only three points scored in the entire period. However, those three points came via a clutch game winning three made by junior Connor Thumm, which proved to be the game decider.
“It was great being able to win the game for the team,” said Thumm. “We hope we can use the momentum from this win to help make a run in the playoffs.”
The Marauders are away for their next game against the Destin Sharks on Thursday, Feb. 5, which is the District Semifinals. The team hopes they can not only shake off their regular season struggles, but also make a deep playoff run.
