Last month, Charli D’Amelio and the official “& Juliet”  account took to Instagram to announce her Broadway debut in an adaptation of Shakespeare's “Romeo and Juliet.” The TikTok sensation will join the ensemble as a Charmian, a role that features a lot of dance. Her performances will run from Oct. 29 to Jan.19, having a total span of three months.

“& Juliet” is a pop musical that provides an alternate ending for “Romeo and Juliet,” where Juliet doesn't end her life. It's described as a fun coming-of-age story that includes modern songs. Familiar songs sung in the musical include: “I Want It That Way,” “Since You Been Gone” and “Roar.” While she isn't singing in her role, D’Amelio will contribute to the overall energy and vibe of the musical.

At 20 years old, D’Amelio is one of the most followed TikTok creators. All her life she danced competitively, but her rise to fame started when she started posting dance videos in 2020.  She went viral for her “Renegade” dance which cemented her as a top dance creator on the platform. In 2022, she competed on “Dancing With The Stars” and won her season. Now she’s returned to dance through this debut.

“This has been my ultimate dream ever since I was a little girl,” D’amelio said in a post on Instagram. “But it always felt like something I could only admire from a distance and now, here I am, starting this amazing new chapter in my life and cherishing every second. I wouldn't be here without all of you. A ginormous thank you to the entire & Juliet team for allowing me to be part of such a special show.”
