Kate Middleton Speaks Out About Her Past Struggles With Cancer

In a short social media video shared on Feb. 4, Kate Middleton reflected on her cancer journey, saying its path “is not linear” and acknowledging “moments of fear and exhaustion” as well as “strength, kindness and profound connection.” She said to viewers, “please know you are not alone” as she remarked on the global observance.

The 44-year-old princess was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 after undergoing planned abdominal surgery and began preventive chemotherapy later that year. She shared the diagnosis in a personal video and stepped away from royal duties to focus on treatment. In September 2024, she announced she had completed chemotherapy, and, in January 2025, she confirmed that she was in remission.

The World Cancer Day message was recorded using live footage from a visit last January to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she received treatment and where she now serves as patron along with her husband, Prince William. In that visit, she thanked staff for their care and spoke about the challenges of returning to a “new normal.”

Middleton’s transparency about her health struggles has shown her advocacy for cancer awareness and support for patients, families and caregivers.
