A Recap of Crowder’s Opening Night in Tallahassee, Florida

On Thursday, Oct. 2, Christian artist Crowder kicked off his “The Grace and Glory Tour” with a powerful opening night in Tallahassee, Florida at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Known for his contemporary rock worship music, Crowder is a popular musician with chart-topping singles such as “God Really Loves Us” and “Come As You Are.”
I had the blessed opportunity to attend this event, and it was such an amazing experience. With floor seats, I was able to be up close to the stage, which enhanced my overall experience. From the very beginning of the concert, the atmosphere was incredible: the music was amazing and the audience was cheering and singing with enthusiasm and energy.
The evening opened with Passion Music, featuring Kari Jobe Carnes and Cody Carnes, who sang popular worship favorites like “What a Beautiful Name,” “The Blessing” and “Firm Foundation (He Won’t).” Their set fueled the excitement for the rest of the concert and was well organized. The stage’s large screen also displayed the lyrics to all of the songs, which was helpful for fans that were unfamiliar with the music.
After Passion Music had performed a few more songs, there was a brief pause in which the screen displayed scripture from Revelation 1, 21 and 22. This was one of my favorite moments, as it offered a meaningful pause to reflect on the true purpose of the concert. Following this, Pastor Louie Giglio from Passion City Church shared a brief message about Romans 3. His sermon was short but powerful, highlighting the basic foundations of the gospel message in an amazing, concise way. One line in particular resonated with me: “The story of Jesus is not Do; the story of Jesus is Done.”
“I loved the concert,” freshman Sophie Yu said. “I got really inspired after listening to the sermon. I also loved how they sang my favorite songs that I hear in church.”
Next, there was a short intermission before Crowder finally came onto the stage. I really enjoyed his suspenseful entrance: the lights dimmed, the screen flared to life and then the bass dropped. Crowder opened with “Grave Robber” before performing other well-known hits such as “Run Devil Run,” “Red Letters,” and “God Really Loves Us.” His band brought lots of energy and the stage production especially added to the ambience. The screen not only displayed the lyrics to all of his songs, but also incorporated creative graphics and dynamic camera shots of Crowder and his band. I loved how this made his performance both visually and musically captivating.
“I really liked the graphics on the screen,” Yu said. “They showed the lyrics just in case for those who weren’t familiar with the songs, and the visual effects also really added to the vibe, especially the lights and camera angles of everyone.”
As the concert drew to a close, Passion Music rejoined Crowder on stage for performances of “Goodness of God” and “Glorious Day.” I loved how they brought the artists back to sing these popular church songs. Finally, Crowder closed out his concert with “Good God Almighty.” This was a super upbeat song, and I felt that this was the perfect way to end the evening - on an inspiring, energetic tune.
Overall, I absolutely loved this concert. For me, it provided both a night of entertainment and a wonderful opportunity to hang out with fellow Christians and worship God.
Crowder will continue “The Grace and Glory Tour” through Oct. 26, wrapping up in Oklahoma City. For those seeking uplifting music and an inspiring message, it’s definitely a concert worth experiencing.
