With fall weather creeping up on Tallahassee, it is finally time for all the fall festivities that everyone has been waiting for. Colorful autumn leaves, pumpkins and spooky decorations will soon fill the streets in celebration of the fall season. Although it's still warm outside, October is nearing which means fall shows and movies will be streaming all season long for fall fanatics. With autumn bringing many holidays including Halloween and Thanksgiving, there are a multitude of various shows and movies to give viewers those nostalgic fall feelings.

Harry Potter

One of the best movies to watch during the fall season is the Harry Potter Series. The movies focus on the main character, Harry Potter, and his friends who attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Each movie faces a different dilemma that the students go through during their school year such as fighting a three-headed dog, battling dementors and going up against the well-known antagonist Voldemort. This series is a perfect pick for Halloween because of the constant feeling of the holiday that persists throughout the movie. Additionally, the eerie setting of the movie and the child-like feeling gives all the fall vibes.

Stranger Things

A frightening and classic Netflix series to watch during Halloween has to be Stranger Things. The show takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana where it always feels like fall. A group of friends spend the entirety of the series fighting against supernatural forces as well as the government to save the lives of their best friend Will Byers and themselves. They fight off all kinds of monsters, like the Demogorgon, as well as dealing with their friends and family becoming possessed. Each episode is around 40-50 minutes long and provides viewers with the same shocking and frightening scenes as a horror movie would. This show is perfect for Halloween and is great for teenagers and adults to watch when they want to get into the fall spirit.

Hocus Pocus

One of the most popular Halloween movies to hit theaters and streaming platforms is the 1993 Hocus Pocus. The film produced by Disney has been one of the most popular and classic Halloween movies since its release. Hocus Pocus is about a teenage boy who accidentally resurrects three witches on Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts and must spend the rest of the night fighting to ensure they do not become immortal. The film is perfect for the fall months leading up to Halloween, especially on the night of Oct. 31. It is one of the best Halloween throwback movies and even got a sequel in 2022 because it was so popular.

Gilmore Girls

Lastly, by far the best show to prepare you for fall would be Gilmore Girls. The seven season long series follows mother Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory Gilmore through their daily lives including relationships, family hardships, careers and more. The Gilmore family duo is constantly seen sipping coffees and wearing sweaters in the cool weather of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The series has a constant fall feeling and is always filmed during the colder months, glowing with autumn-colored leaves and pumpkins scattered about. This is one of the best family-friendly series to welcome the colder weather and fall feelings.
