Maclay Boys Varsity Basketball vs. NFC

The Marauders faced off against the North Florida Christian (NFC) Eagles on Monday, Dec. 1. The guys were looking to start a win streak and to overcome their early season struggles. However, the boys lost 56-55 in heartbreaking fashion after the Eagles hit a game winning shot as time expired.
“I think what allowed us to keep the score close was our defense especially in the full court press,” junior Connor Thumm said. “As well as out rebounding NFC by a lot.”
The Marauders played a great game, as they were neck and neck with the Eagles the entire way. Up by one with less than a minute left, the boys were sure they had secured a win. However, a Marauder turnover led to the Eagles having one more possession for a chance to win the game. The Eagles hit the go-ahead shot with two seconds left to go up 56-55 and time expired soon after, leading to another Marauder defeat.
“To win more games we need to have better first quarter performances,” junior Beau Beshears said. “We also need to start off with high energy.”
The Marauders are away for their next game against the Lincoln Trojans on Wednesday, Dec. 3, where they hope they can overcome these struggles.
