The Maclay boys varsity soccer team faced the Chiles Timberwolves for their second game of the season on Friday, Nov. 7. The team was looking to secure a win to improve to 2-0-0 and stay undefeated. However, the game ended in a 1-1 tie as the Marauders are now 1-0-1 on the season.

It was all defense for the majority of the first half as the score stayed tied at 0-0. Senior Zach Ghazvini changed that with a late first half goal, which made the score 1-0 in favor of the Marauders. The boys were confident as they managed to keep this lead headed into halftime. However, the Timberwolves would score a goal of their own in the second half to tie up the game. Despite many attempts, the Marauders were unable to score again as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

“We must forget about the last game and clear our minds,” said Ghazvini. “We need to only focus on Wakulla (the next game) and play with purpose.”

The boys hope they can go back to their winning ways as they take on the Wakulla War Eagles at Frank Shaw Field on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
