Nicolás Maduro Taken by U.S. Forces

Many Venezuelans are celebrating after U.S. special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. On Jan. 3, 2026, Operation Absolute Resolve commenced: 150 U.S aircraft flying 100 feet above the water carried elite troops that disabled Venezuelan defense systems with the bombing of Fort Tiuna and descended at 1 A.M onto Maduro’s compound in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas.
Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were caught by surprise. They attempted to escape into a steel safe room but U.S. forces took them into custody by 3 A.M. Maduro is now facing charges on U.S. soil for narco terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices related to drug trafficking.
U.S President Donald Trump has made it clear that the U.S is now in charge of Venezuela and will decide who becomes the next Venezuelan president.
“We have to rebuild,” Trump said. “We have to rebuild the country, and we will rebuild it in a very profitable way.”
