Maclay’s Back To School Dance Starts the Year Off With Festivities and Friends
The 2026-27 Back to School Dance brought students together for a night of music, dance and a chance to hang out with friends. Hosted by the Upper School Student Council in the Cartee Gym on Aug. 15, the dance went from 8-10 p.m., with tickets selling for either $15 or $20, depending on whether attendees were dressed in the theme of red, white and blue.
Most students embraced the patriotic colors. Outfits ranged from simple attire, where students dressed in one to all three of the colors, to elaborate dresses and overalls featuring American flags. A number of people wore USA World Cup jerseys and large American flags and accessorized with patriotic stickers and face paint. The dance also provided glow sticks and star sunglasses, adding to the festivities.
Ultimately, students were given an opportunity to socialize and have fun with their friends while also being able to meet new students and create new friendships.
