Staying Hot
Maclay Varsity Football vs. the Aucilla Christian Warriors
The Marauders traveled to Monticello to face the Aucilla Christian Warriors on Friday, Sept. 4. The boys were looking to win their second conference game of the season while also keeping their hot start to the season aflame. They did just that, as the Marauders put it on the Warriors, crushing them 42-14.
It did not take long for the Marauder offense to get going, as they were able to score four touchdowns in the first half. The defense was able to match this first-half performance, as they did not allow Aucilla to get into the endzone once, making the score 28-0 at halftime. Coming out of the break, the Marauders kept their foot on the gas, scoring two more touchdowns to make the score 42-0. The Warriors would score twice late in the game, but the late scores proved insignificant as the Marauders walked out with a 42-14 victory.
“Once we got into a rhythm, we were able to keep moving the ball and putting points on the board,” sophomore Anthony White said. “We were able to stay consistent and take advantage of the opportunities we had.”
The Marauders are back at Frank Shaw Field next week on Friday, Sept. 11, when they will face the Chipley Tigers. Here, they hope they can keep their winning streak alive in another dominant fashion.
