On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the Maclay Marauders held their senior night swim meet against the Leon Lions. Seniors Grayson Banks, Suhani Gawde and Sophie Lombard were recognized during the meet. Each of them walked alongside their families and were surrounded by teammates who bombarded them with pool noodles.

“I really enjoyed being a part of the team,” Banks said. “It was nice finally being the senior during the ceremony.”

Each of the swimmers for Maclay have had strong results throughout their careers. Banks swam a 50-meter freestyle PR of 22.44 on Nov. 6, 2024. Gawde swam a one minute 24 second 100-meter breaststroke PR on Jan. 28, 2024. Also, Lombard swam a six minute and 52 second 500-meter freestyle PR on Oct. 28, 2024.

“It was surreal,” Gawde said. “I’ve seen so many [senior nights] before, but it was crazy that now it was my own.”

The Marauders look to keep swimming fast on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Panama City Beach for their next meet.
