Ryan Gosling Making Homemade Poptarts from Tallahassee's Own The Cake Shop Famous

Almost everybody knows who Ryan Gosling is; whether it is seeing him in many action films like “Drive” or “Fall Guy”, or most famously for starring in the films “The Notebook” or “Barbie”, Gosling quickly rose to fame and started being nominated and earning many awards. However, if there is something that people were not expecting him to be known for, it would be accidentally elevating a breakfast pastry into a pop culture icon. 

Back in 2016, Gosling was heard saying on “The Nice Guys” press circuit during an interview that he loved eating Pop-Tarts. While for some this news would not be exciting, Gosling was loved widely and fans loved to take something and run with it, so this news struck the internet. What was once just a breakfast or sweet treat choice, became known as “Ryan Gosling’s favorite snack.” 

Pop-Tarts, first introduced in 1964, are a popular brand of pre-baked toaster pastries that consist of fruity or sugary fillings, enclosed in two thin pastry pieces and often topped with frosting. These snacks have always been a part of the American food culture, originally becoming a symbol of childhood and nostalgia. 

Recently, one certain bakery got recognition, again by Gosling, for their outstanding homemade Pop-Tarts. On March 18, 2026, Gosling raved about the famous homemade poptarts from Tallahassee’s very own The Cake Shop, owned by Linda Richard, on the show “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” While being interviewed, Gosling talked about these amazing Pop-Tarts that he is given when on set by the sister of Richards, a SNL wardrobe supervisor. 

“And Donna’s sister… she owns a bakery in Florida, In Tallahassee… and they make the most incredible pop-tarts,” Gosling said on the show. “You have to order these pop-tarts. Donna gives them to you at the beginning of the show, when you start hosting, so you’re just running on pop-tarts the whole time.” 

After this incredible shoutout, fans immediately jumped into action and tried these pastries that The Ryan Gosling loved. The bakery earned thousands of dollars and orders once the show was released. The small bakery quickly became busy, getting more than 100 pastries sold by mid-afternoon in one day. Everyday, these popular pop-tarts are constantly sold out, being favorites not just for their hometown, but worldwide. 

“I did not know that was coming. It was a total shock. I was blown into another universe,” Richards said. “The phone rings off the hook. I have thousands of requests.”
