The Return of Dr. Seuss

Original Manuscript of “Sing the 50 United States!” is Discovered


On Oct. 28, 2025, Dr. Seuss Enterprises (DSE) announced the discovery of one of Ted Geisel’s original manuscripts. This manuscript, along with original cover art also designed by Geisel, was found in the archives of the UC San Diego’s Geisel Library and will be published by Random House Children's Books on June 2, 2026. 


Ted Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, is well known for his popular children’s books, which are characterized for their memorable characters and catchy rhymes. A few of his works include “The Cat in the Hat,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Green Eggs and Ham.” Though he died in 1991, these stories are still popular today and have carried on his legacy.


The new book titled “Sing the 50 United States!” follows Geisel’s beloved Cat in the Hat as he teaches readers the names of the 50 states by way of classic rhyme. The return of Geisel’s memorable character and unforgettable word play is greatly anticipated.
