Maclay Marauders Varsity Football vs. Marianna Bulldogs

The Maclay Marauders football team became 3-0 after Friday’s game on Sept. 5. The Marauders beat the Marianna Bulldogs with the final score being 33-7. While expecting a close game, the Marauders showed out and gave it their all on the field. They scored their first touchdown within the first minute of the game.
“Coming up on the season having lost a lot of seniors, there was some doubt from people outside the team,” senior Manny Arisso said. “As players we have high expectations for what this team can accomplish. Then in practice we worked hard physically to prepare our minds and bodies for a fight on Friday night.”
The players came into the game prepared. They were ready to beat the Bulldogs and they did just that. The team even got to celebrate senior Ben Thompson after catching his first touchdown.
“My favorite part (of the game) was when I had a big run,” junior Tucker Poppell said. “I enjoyed making a lot of defenders miss.”
The Marauders are starting this football season out well and return home to Frank Shaw Field on Friday, Oct. 3, against Taylor County. The Marauders next game is on Friday, Sept. 12, against the Valwood Valiants.
