An Overview of Laufey’s New Album, “A Matter Of Time”

On Aug. 22, 2025, Icelandic singer Laufey released her third album, entitled “A Matter Of Time.” Laufey has released four singles in 2025, titled “Silver Lining,” “Tough Luck,” “Lover Girl” and “Snow White,” but this is her first album release of the year.

“A Matter of Time” shows the progression of Laufey’s music, as the album includes more emotionally impactful songs. Rather than her jazzy style used previously, Laufey utilizes a louder instrumental which gives each song a sense of confidence while maintaining a serious tone. This seriousness is matched by the topics addressed in the album, including apprehension towards love, loss of friendships and personal analysis. Overall, the album showcases a messier side of Laufey’s life, featuring songs that make the artist more human. 

Laufey’s album is an exquisite work of art, with songs such as “Clockwork,” “Lovergirl” and "Mr. Eclectic" being fan favorites. With Laufey’s vocals enhancing the listening experience, each song has a distinct sound, making her songs easily recognizable. Because of its catchy choruses and somber moments, the album has captured the hearts of many fans. Since its release, “A Matter Of Time” has amassed millions of streams, with its most popular song being “Silver Lining.”
