On Wednesday, Jan. 29 the Maclay boys weightlifting team took on Blountstown in their first meet of the season. After their preseason was cut short due to an unexpected snow storm, the team finally kicked off their season. Though the Marauders put on a strong performance, they ended up coming short, losing the meet 53-26.

“My lifts were fine,” sophomore Alex Berenson said. “My goal is to improve on my form for the next meets.

Alex Berenson along with senior captains Andrew Berenson and Adam Bailey won their weight classes. Many other Marauders also placed second in their weight class.

“I lifted pretty good,” junior Justin Murphy said. “Coming off of a long break made it difficult, but I still managed to get most of my lifts.”

The Marauders will not have to wait long for their next meet, as they face Gadsden County on Feb. 4.
