Erling Haaland Debuts Buzzcut in First Game of the Season

Erling Haaland is a soccer player for Manchester City Football Club in the Premier League and Herrelandslaget (Norway national football team). He became a viral sensation during the 2026 World Cup, particularly in the United States, for his unique social media content and appearance - especially his long blonde locks, a ‘viking look.’
However, Haaland decided to shave off his hair in time for his Premier League season debut with Manchester City F.C. against AFC Bournemouth on Aug. 23.
Manchester City F.C. won against AFC Bournemouth 2-1, but Haaland, a powerful striker and top goalscorer in the 2026 World Cup, did not score any goals. He missed easy chances which lacked power and precision.
Some fans online are claiming that his poor performance is due to his new haircut. According to former soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimović, his strength is in his long hair.
Haaland will play again with Manchester City F.C. on Sept. 5, and fans will be watching to see whether his play improves or if his haircut is still affecting him.
