New Star Wars Movie and “Ashoka” Season 2 Trailer Revealed
At the D23 Expo on Aug. 14, Disney teased “Star Wars: Starfighter,” an upcoming standalone film set five years after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” Scheduled to release in theaters on May 28, 2027, “Star Wars: Starfighter” will be set in a new time period never seen before in the beloved franchise. The film is directed by Shawn Levy and will star Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams.
Additionally, the teaser trailer for season two of “Star Wars: Ashoka” was revealed at the expo. The trailer starts with Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Ashoka (Rosario Dawson) fighting a mysterious man wielding a double-bladed green lightsaber. Next, the video shifts focus to Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), a character who returned at the end of season one, declaring war against the Rebel Alliance. The trailer concludes with Anakin asking Ashoka, “Are you a Jedi…or not?” reflecting Ashoka’s inner conflict with her past and present identity.
Season two will premiere on Jan. 20 on Disney+, and fans are looking forward to seeing Ashoka embark on her next thrilling adventure through the cosmos.
