Seahawks Dominate Patriots En Route to a Super Bowl LX Victory

Another edition of one of the most anticipated, yearly sporting events in the United States took place on Feb. 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, Calif. Super Bowl LX saw the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots in a very lopsided matchup, which saw the Seahawks dominate and claim themselves as Super Bowl champions once again, winning 29-13.
From the beginning, the Seahawks dominated the Patriots on both sides of the ball, especially on the defensive side. The Seattle defense delivered one of the best defensive performances in Super Bowl history, as they managed to hold the Patriots to only 331 yards of total offense the entire game. Most of those yards came late in the fourth quarter, where the Patriots were already down multiple scores. The entire defense seemed to overwhelm Patriots’ Quarterback Drake Maye and his offense, but the defensive front was especially dominant against the Patriot offensive line. Not only did the defensive front hold the Patriots to just 42 rushing yards, but they were also able to sack Maye six times, which was just one shy of the Super Bowl record. The Seattle secondary also proved to be a problem for the Patriots, as they recorded two interceptions late in the game, which proved to be the nail in the coffin. The dominant performance from this Seattle defense proved to be the main reason they were crowned as Super Bowl champions.
It took awhile for the Seattle offense to get going, however, as they only managed to score nine points by the end of the first half, thanks to Jason Myers going three for three on field goals. It was only after the Seattle defense forced a turnover late into the third quarter when the offense started to pull away, as a 16 yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold to AJ Barner made the score 19-0. Darnold was not his usual, explosive self this game as he was only able to complete 19 of his 38 pass attempts for 202 yards and a touchdown. He missed many opportunities to make the scoreboard show the true domination the Seahawks were putting on the Patriots. However, most importantly, he was able to protect the ball and not allow the Patriot defense to get a single turnover. Without a doubt though, Seattle’s offense mainly revolved around Kenneth Walker III and his amazing performance. Walker rushed 27 times for 135 yards and caught two balls for 26 more yards, bringing his total to 161 yards. He ripped off many long runs early in the game, which put the Seattle offense into scoring position multiple times, where they were able to make those three field goals early on to build their lead. This was Walker’s best rushing performance all season, and it showed, as he walked away winning the Super Bowl MVP.
The Seahawks special teams unit also played a major role in securing the franchise’s second Super Bowl. For starters, Myers ended the game going five for five on field goals, which set the Super Bowl record for most made field goals in a Super Bowl. He was also the main contributor for Seattle’s points, as he scored 17 out of their 29. Seattle’s punter Micheal Dickson was also a very important factor in this game, as he was able to pin the Patriots deep in their territory multiple times, which proved to be very important early on.
With Super Bowl LX in the books, the 2025-2026 NFL season has officially come to an end. Looking forward to next season, NFL fans hope that it has many memorable moments in store.
