Maclay Varsity Football vs. the Rutherford Rams
The Marauders played their second game of the season on Friday, Aug. 28. Coming off of a dominant victory over Lafayette the previous week, the Marauders were hoping to keep up the momentum in their home opener against the Rams. Ultimately, with a prolific offensive performance, the Marauders would be successful in achieving that goal.
“It felt good to see our hard work pay off,” senior Andew Guyer said. “Especially after all the hard work we put in over the summer.”
The Marauders wasted no time getting the scoring started, as senior Blake Brannen returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown to start the game. The team would keep up with their hot first quarter start by scoring two more touchdowns, as the score would reach 35-7 by halftime. Despite allowing 21 points in the third quarter, the Marauder offense would not take their foot off the gas. The boys would score 23 more points in the second half, including two rushing touchdowns by sophomore running back Anthony White, with the final score being a 58-28 blowout win for the Marauders.
“It felt pretty good, especially with how much we won by,” junior Holt Antohi said. “It also felt great to have the support of the student section that game.”
The boys hope to keep up with the hot start to the season as they will travel to face the Aucilla Christian Warriors on Friday, Sep. 4.
