With the season on the line, the Maclay boys basketball team looked to advance to the regional semifinals. On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Marauders traveled to Jacksonville to take on the number one team in the region, University Christian. Maclay was aiming to keep not only their four-game win streak alive but also their season.

From the start, the Marauders were down, heading into halftime with a 39-27 point deficit. Maclay was unable to keep up with the pace and style of University Christian, ultimately losing 89-56, concluding the boys varsity basketball season.

“My favorite experience with Maclay basketball this year was winning the district finals and the memories made along the way,” senior Hayden Fryar said.

While the season for the team has ended, the memories, friendships and lessons the team made and learned will last them a lifetime.

“I loved playing basketball this year for Maclay,” senior Andrew Lunt said. “It was such a fun season and a great group of seniors that I got a chance to be a part of. I’m so glad we got a district championship title, and I will forever remember this season and this team.”
