Wake Me Up Before Kickoff

Green Day Set To Open 60th Superbowl

On Jan. 18, 2026, the National Football League (NFL) announced that before Super Bowl LX, Green Day, one of the biggest rock bands in the past decade, will perform. Green Day is an American Rock Band that gained popularity in 1994, with popular hits like “Basket Case,” “American Idiot,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends" and more. The band was founded in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area and consists of three members: Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool.

"We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!” Billie Joe Armstrong said. "We are honored to welcome the MVPs who've shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world.”

The band will kick off the big game with an opening ceremony on Feb. 8 in Levi’s Stadium. The performance will celebrate six decades of championship history in the NFL while ushering decades of prior MVPs onto the field. The performance will air on T.V. at 6 p.m. EST on streaming platforms like Peacock and NBC.
