On Thursday, Aug. 20, the Lady Marauders faced off against the Wakulla War Eagles. The Marauders were looking to win their second game of the young season; however, they lost 3-0 after a tough set of matches against the War Eagles.

Coming into the night, the team knew they would need a good strategy to win.

“We knew who their top hitters were,” senior Kate Hartmann said. “So we made it a big goal to set the block on the pins so we could get more touches to help our defense out.”

This strategy nearly worked, with the Marauders being just a hair away from winning in all three sets, losing 25-23, 25-21 then 25-23 again. Lead changes were constantly happening as both teams found their rhythm, but in the end the Lady Marauders unfortunately came up short.

Although the Marauders played extremely well, they have a lot to work on for future matches.

“I would say just really focusing on the little things towards the end of each set,” sophomore Grace Osiecki said. “Especially since the sets were so close each time.”

For their next game, The Lady Marauders will go on the road and face the Liberty County Bulldogs on Tuesday, Aug. 25, where they will hope to grab another win.
